The Ambience setting let’s you place the drums in the room of your choice, whether it’s a cave, a locker room, a studio, or a theater. Choose your mic position: High or Low, select from: Wood, Plaster, or Glass as your wall material, and the size of space: Tiny, Small, Medium, Large, or Huge. And never fear: your edits are always automatically saved.

The ins and outs

Besides the pair of 1/4-inch outputs and the DC power-supply input, the TD-9 includes a 1/8-inch stereo input so you can jam along with music from your favorite media player. (There is no volume knob for this input, so you’ll need to control the audio level from the attached device.)

The MIDI In and Out/Thru ports allow you to incorporate the TD-9SX V-Tour in a studio environment, which is especially useful for composers who want to use the kit to create realistic drum patterns. A 1/4-inch stereo headphone jack is conveniently located on the bottom of the sound module.

Roland included two addition pad inputs on the TD-9, so you can expand your kit with an additional tom and cymbal. Just don’t forget to budget for the extra hardware necessary to attach them to the rack. To keep the cables neat and make them easier and quicker to connect, Roland added a multipin DB-25 connector to one end of the cable snake. The length of the snake is designed for a conventional set up mounted on the Roland rack: If you want to use the drum module on other hardware or set up the pads around an acoustic kit, you may need 1/4” TRS extension cables.

Being packed with a variety of sounds and backing tracks, as well as the great feel of the pads, the TD-9SX is a pleasure to play. The  TD-9SX is ideal for less rigorous situations, such as use in a personal studio, a school, or a house of worship. Without a doubt, Green Day album songs will forever be special parts of music history. This band’s musical creations have become the dominant tune in the lives of punk rock enthusiasts. This is despite the accusation that this group sold punk as opposed to just playing it for its sake.

The band has probably tasted the most success in the 1990s. Their official formation however is pinned in 1987 when pals Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt came together and formed Sweet Children. The other two original members were Al Sobrante and Sean Hughes. Lookout! Records was the first to discover and take the group under its wing in 1989. This prompted a controversial name change that many fans say is an unconfirmed tribute to marijuana. The band of course, denies this.

The group was initially able to churn out an LP and a couple of EPs with their small label. It wasn’t until 1994 that the band saw mainstream success with the release of their first album, Dookie, under their new label Reprise Records. Despite being the band’s first, the album became certified diamond and was honored in the 1995 Grammy Awards as the Best Alternative Album.

On the same year they got a nod from the Grammys, Insomniac was released. Of all the Green Day albums this is perhaps the heaviest. This is probably why it did not reach the same status as the first release. Nonetheless, this second release earned from the group a slew of nominations and hundreds of thousands in Green Day merch and album sales.

After two years, Nimrod took center stage. The album reached the top ten of the charts. Again, it was not as deeply treasured by punk fans as the first album. This is attributed to the fact that it was an experimental venture in which elements of pop and ska were mixed into the band’s traditional sound.

It took the group more than two years to release Warning. The album was certified gold and was awarded Outstanding Album in the California Music Awards. These however were a far cry from the standings of the other albums. The lower sales of this third release were thought by many to be a sign of the band’s loss of relevance.

It took four more years for the group to prove all the naysayers wrong. American Idiot was so well accepted that it became the band’s first chart topper and Best Rock Album in the Grammys. It was so popular that it even inspired a musical.

The band’s most recent release is the chart topping 21st Century Breakdown in 2009. By this time, the members seemed to have recovered their old appeal as the album took platinum status.

It’s obvious from all angles that punk rock would not have been so widely accepted if it were not for Green Day album songs. This is despite the fact that they have managed to rake in their fair share of rotten tomatoes. They were once accused of selling out. Other popular bands have also ridiculed what they consider to be the band’s falsely orchestrated punk images in rock tees. Regardless of these negative inputs however, there is no changing the fact that this group has at least earned its right in the annals of commercial music history with millions in album sales.
