Too many new guitarists are being turned away from the classical genre because of the internet. A graceful instrument being played by a master classical guitarist is pure art. Playing classical guitar is very rewarding when skillfully done.
So is looking to the internet for classical guitar classes a good idea?
Material for other guitar genre’s is all over the internet. Why is it that finding good information on the internet for classical guitar is so hard?
I’m not trying to say that the guitar can not be learned on-line. in fact the internet is a great addition to traditional music lessons; but music lessons from an instructor should be the cornerstone of training for classical guitar.
A teacher can impart on you the passions behind classical guitar. A good teacher will keep your playing from becoming boring and detached.
Tab works just fine with some music, but for the classical genre sheet music is key. Sheet music shows you exactly how the piece was originally played so that you can recreate it with 100% accuracy, this is essential for classical music.
Classical guitar must be played with a greater sense of precision than rock acoustic, which follows a generic chord pattern instead of a specific arrangement.
So what is my point?
This is the point I am trying to make. My message is it is ok to use the internet to learn acoustic guitar. Learning classical guitar online can work, but only do so if you are certain you are getting the same quality of instruction that a good old fashioned music instructor would give you while learning classical guitar.
Whether or not this message is valid is up to you. Everything these days is becoming digital, and it is hard to argue with low prices.
To me merit is worth spending additional money on, I could never be satisfied with B quality when it comes to classical guitar. However, if you are interested in electric guitar that is different, there are plenty of good classes on the internet for electric guitar. Two that I enjoy for excellent guitar classes are Jamorama and Music Master Pro.
For a complete guitar newbie, the courses Jamorama and Music Master Pro. are great! You can learn the basics faster and find some simple steps to practice with Jamorama. However, with a little practice you may find a previously unknown talent for music; should this be the case then you really need to find a guitar teacher to improve your skill.
