Stage fright can be the biggest marring factor for a singer. If you dream of making a career as a professional singer you will have to teach yourself to deal with stage fright. It certainly cannot be easy to perform in front of a crowd and it is normal to be scared. You should realize that you are certainly not the only one who experiences stage fright even some of the legendary performers go through stage fright each time they perform. If you are wondering how to sing well despite the stage fright, here are a few tips to help you.

You will not feel nervous if you practice enough. When you are performing you shouldn’t be concentrating on questions like what if I forget the lyrics or what if I sing off key. The more you practice the more comfortable you will be with your act. Nothing will beat the jitters like practicing.

It will help if you are optimistic and know that the audience wants you to perform well for them. They don’t want you to fumble they genuinely would like to hear you sing well. On the contrary you should derive strength from your audience and their accolades.

Saying a little prayer can also be very uplifting.

Associating yourself with a famous performer in  your mind can also help you to relax. It will certainly help if you tell yourself that you cannot possibly fumble because you are very good.

Deep breathing and counting to ten while you accept the sensations like trembling and palpitation as normal is another good way to tackle stage fright.

Usually looking at the audience is what makes performers break into a cold sweat. There are various ways to overcome this feeling and imagining your audience without clothes doesn’t work for everybody. On the contrary it can make you laugh and mess up a good performance. If looking into the audience’s eyes makes you nervous, don’t do it, instead look at their faces or over their heads. If it makes you more comfortable you can concentrate on the bright lights surrounding you.

Be honest with yourself about your abilities. Finally, telling yourself that you can deliver an amazing performance which the audience will love and imagining it will also help. Imagination is a very powerful tool and it will help you alleviate the jitters.
